GREEN SCHOOLS EXPO
Real Nation were already admirers of the Green Schools programme, and have been for many years. So, when the opportunity came to tender for the Green Schools Expo we jumped at it! Upon winning the tender, Real Nation developed a bespoke Sustainability Strategy for the Green Schools Expo addressing the key areas of waste, transport and energy and created an effective communications strategy around the initiatives both pre, during and post event. We strongly feel that having event planners that know children is important for a successful first year, and quite simply this could range from knowing the capacity of their attention-spans, what’s the best activity fit for their age range or the maximum amount of time they should be in an area before they are gently moved on. And having experience in this area would mitigate mistakes and streamline the event planning.
Over one day, 4,000 primary and secondary school students visited Ireland’s first environmental exhibition for schools at the RDS Industries Hall on the 25th February 2016. There was an Eco Talks area and two large workshop zones with hands-on workshops. The expo featured projects from 23 schools, chosen for their innovative or inventive approach to the environmental-management challenges posed by the green-flag themes of litter and waste, energy, water, travel, biodiversity and global citizenship.
