SUSTAINABLE ENERGY AUTHORITY OF IRELAND

ONE GOOD IDEA

In 2008 Real Nation won the tender to develop One Good Idea, a schools programme pilot to support the Power of One Campaign, a national energy efficiency public awareness programme. The aim was to initiate sustainable and conscious citizenship with the concept that ‘one small change can make a difference’. One Good Idea aims to help students gain a greater understanding of energy efficiency and climate change by challenging them to develop an awareness campaign to creatively make people aware of the simple changes that we call all make in our lives to help address these issues. Students are encouraged to promote their campaign in innovative ways, with groups making use of a wide range channels to spread their message, such as newspapers, radio, online and even developing their own smartphone apps. The success of their campaigns has sustained a promotion of energy efficiency and awareness of climate change throughout the educational community in Ireland. With over 2,000 schools registered and over 5,000 students participating since its initial launch, it is estimated that over 250,000 students and adults have been reached by these campaigns nationwide. Hundreds of students from all over the country take part each year and the Finalists in primary, junior and senior categories go on to showcase their projects at the One Good Idea National Final in Dublin.

Real Nation have managed and executed the National Final event plan on behalf of the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland for the past nine years, implementing the creative vision sought out by our client from the outset. This event has been received remarkably well every year, with new elements always being added to keep the content fresh and current for attendees.

Real Nation have managed our One Good Idea project for 7 years and have succeeded in making it a well-established annual competition for post primary schools nationwide. Their creativity, innovation and excellent organisational skills ensure that the project is professionally managed throughout the school year. The 2015 National Final Awards ceremony was a fantastic event and a huge success with the teachers and students and with our invited guests.
